New to the project? Start with what ReSkate is: a third-party open-source mod platform for the free-to-play game EA skate., not an EA product.

Official source: ReSkate on GitHub — "ReSkate is a fan project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts or Full Circle." It also states: "You need your own copy of skate. on Steam."

Discord: the Main Hangout

Discord is where the project lives day to day. The server grew from roughly 2,900 members on launch night (2026-10-02, per the community launch write-up) to about 31,600 members five days later — check the live count on the invite page or the disdex snapshot, because this number moves fast.

Use Discord for announcements from the team, help channels when something breaks, and finding people to skate with. Before asking for help, read the Before You Ask section below — the regulars answer faster when you show your version number and log.

Join the right server, not a lookalike

The official server is named ReSkate (vanity discord.gg/reskate, invite discord.gg/Tkd5D2Y6EX). A FiveM roleplay server at discord.gg/reskaterp is unrelated — do not join it expecting ReSkate support. Likewise, reskate.wiki and reskatehub.com are third-party sites, not this wiki (re-skate.wiki) and not official.

If you have not installed anything yet, follow the PC install walkthrough first, and skim the trust guide if antivirus warnings make you hesitate.

GitHub: Code, Downloads and Issues

The ReSkate repository is the single source of truth: GPL-3.0 source code, the Releases page with every build through v1.1.3 (2026-10-06), and the issue tracker where bugs are reported. The team behind it is the amateur open-source group Dingo-Shenanigans — see the team backgrounder for who does what.

Two rules keep you safe here. First, download only from the Releases page: the client ships as ReSkate-<version>.zip containing ReSkateLauncher.exe plus ReSkate.dll. Never use mirrors, repacks, or video-description links. Second, search existing issues before opening a new one — duplicate reports for the same antivirus flag or crash slow everyone down.

How to file an issue that gets answered

State your ReSkate version (as of writing, v1.1.3), your pinned game build if the launcher shows one, and the exact error text. Attach logs\ReSkate.log from your ReSkate folder — the team asks for it almost every time. One symptom per issue, no "me too" without new details.

Thunderstore: Where the Mods Live

Thunderstore's ReSkate community is the official mod distribution channel: 216 mods and over 326,000 downloads as of the 2026-10-05 community snapshot, led by the full Skate 3 map port. The launcher browses Thunderstore directly from its MODS page, or you can drop a .zip into the window.

Two cautions. Thunderstore lists mods but does not audit every one, and script mods run executable code — the project README says it plainly: only install mods you trust. The full beginner flow is in the mod install tutorial. If a mod broke right after an update, check the mod compatibility notes before blaming the new release, and track what each version changed in the version history.

Reddit, YouTube and Community Guides

Reddit surfaced ReSkate to the wider PC crowd: a dedicated thread on r/pcgaming plus release and mod-tutorial posts on r/Skate4. These are good for impressions and first reactions, but threads age fast on a project shipping a release every day or two — always confirm version-sensitive claims against GitHub or this wiki's as-of stamps.

YouTube carries long-form video tutorials covering offline play and mod installation. Video ages the same way text does: a tutorial recorded for v1.0.x may show menus that moved by v1.1.x, so check the upload date before following each click.

For written community docs, skatemods.com runs the most complete install guide, a dedicated-server guide, and troubleshooting FAQs (coverage up to v1.1.1, updated 2026-10-05). Treat it as a knowledgeable community source, not an official one — where it conflicts with the GitHub README, the README wins.

Before You Ask: Read This First

Most help-channel questions fall into five buckets. Check your bucket before posting.

Symptom Check first Link
Download flagged or game will not start Antivirus quarantine, excluded folder, exact error text Trust guide
Crash or named error on launch Error lookup table, then your log file Error lookup
Mod worked yesterday, broken today Pinned game build vs mod build, bad-mod notice on PLAY Mod compatibility
Something changed after updating What your old version and new version each changed Version history
Unsure the project is legit Open-source license, team, EA's silence as of 2026-10-07 Trust guide and team page

When you do ask, include three things: your ReSkate version, what you already tried from the table above, and the relevant log or screenshot. "It doesn't work" with no version gets you twenty questions; "v1.1.3, PLAY names mod X, log attached" gets you an answer.

On bans and legality, this site reports only sourced facts: EA has made no public statement about ReSkate as of 2026-10-07, ReSkate never connects to EA servers, and no community site can promise what EA will do. Bring your own legitimate Steam copy of skate. (free to add to your library) — ReSkate ships no game files and asks for no EA credentials.

FAQ

Is there an official ReSkate Reddit?

There is no official ReSkate-run subreddit as far as confirmed sources show. Community discussion happens on r/pcgaming and r/Skate4 threads plus the Discord server above.

Do I need Discord to use ReSkate?

No. Discord is for news and help; the software downloads from GitHub Releases and the mods from Thunderstore, neither of which needs a Discord account.

Why do member counts differ between sites?

Snapshots are taken on different days on a server gaining thousands of members daily. Always read the as-of date: this page cites the invite API on 2026-10-07, while third-party trackers may show older figures.

Where do I report a bug — Discord or GitHub?

Ask in Discord help channels when you are unsure it is a bug; file a GitHub issue when you can reproduce it and have a version plus log. Search existing issues first either way.

Is skatemods.com official?

No. It is a community site (its operator authored the Trainer mod) with useful guides and FAQs. Official means GitHub, Thunderstore distribution, and the Discord above — everything else is community-run.
