ReSkate Trainer: Physics Mod Guide

The ReSkate Trainer puts skate.'s physics on sliders: super high ollies, faster flips and spins, never bail, slow motion, and practice markers, all from a TRAINER page in the in-game menu. As of v1.1.3 (2026-10-07), it ships built into every ReSkate release since v1.0.9, so there is nothing to install — press Insert in game and open TRAINER.

What the Trainer Is

The Trainer is the first major ReSkate mod, built by Nakas (andrewnakas, who also runs skatemods) barely a day after ReSkate opened the game up, as a GPL-3.0 fork of ReSkate itself. It was merged upstream in PR #37 and has shipped with every release since v1.0.9 (the standalone fork was at version 0.3.0 by then). Like ReSkate, it is unaffiliated with EA, ships no game data, and unlocks no cosmetics.

One new page, three tabs:

Tab What it does
TUNE Live physics tuning: REALISTIC, FUN, and EVERYTHING lists with preset dials, switches, trick sliders, and raw values
PRACTICE Game speed and pause, five marker slots per map, return-to-marker after a bail, teleport, position readout
MAP & HUD Speed and air-time HUD, a read-out after every jump, CSV telemetry recording, plus map-author extras

The Insert Key Question, Settled

Searches for "reskate insert key" end here: Insert opens the ReSkate menu, and TRAINER is one page inside it. There is no separate Trainer hotkey — press Insert, then pick TRAINER alongside MODS, multiplayer, Park Editor, and settings. The ~ key opens the command console instead (every Trainer action is a trainer ... command, listed below), T opens multiplayer chat, and both the menu and console keys are remappable in the launcher's Settings. Installing: Old Fork vs Built-In

Two eras — check the version stamps:

Era What you installed How
Standalone fork (before v1.0.9) A full ReSkate 1.0.3 build with the Trainer compiled in, for Steam build 25414733 Back up ReSkate.dll + ReSkateLauncher.exe, copy the Trainer's two files over them, press Insert. The launcher could not install it like a Thunderstore mod.
Built-in (v1.0.9 onward, verified at v1.1.3, 2026-10-07) Nothing extra Update ReSkate normally — TRAINER is already in the menu.
One game build at a time

The Trainer targets the same pinned Steam build (25414733) ReSkate supports. If EA updates the game past it, the Trainer needs a new build too — check the mod compatibility table after any update. A player who never opens the Trainer feels nothing of it: HUD, jump read-out, and controller shortcuts are all off by default.

TUNE: Presets, Dials, and Raw Values

Each list — REALISTIC, FUN, EVERYTHING — opens on the dials: every built-in preset as one slider, where 1 means the game's own stock value and the preset button jumps to the preset. Changes apply live while you skate. Dials cover Ollie height, Push speed, Body flip and spin speed, Bail resistance, Grind lock-on and friction, on-foot jump and sprint, glide, and torpedo; below sit switches (Auto Push, No Speed Wobble, Smooth Surfaces, Long Wheelbase, Never bail) and trick sliders (flip trick speed; no comply, boneless, hippy, off-board jump height).

Three things worth knowing: about 4 in 10 rows do nothing — a static pass over the game code found the game never reads them, so they stay hidden unless you ask for "no use found" values. Headline values are wired to what the game really uses (ollie height from the PhysicsJump height graphs, flips from PhysicsReckoning.FlipScalar/FlipMaxSpeed, spins from the PhysicsBodyspin graphs). Reset everything, above the tabs, restores stock; settings live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ReSkate\trainer\trainer.json.

Start from a preset, then dial it back

One-click starts — super high ollie, fast flips, fast spins, never bail — get you skating silly in seconds. Stackable presets layer on top and each switches off on its own; save your own once a setup clicks, including one preset per map.

PRACTICE: Slow Motion, Markers, Teleports

Game speed and pause for slow-motion attempts, five marker slots per map (save / go / clear), auto-return to the marker after a bail, teleport to coordinates, and position copy in game or Blender axes. Controller shortcut, once enabled: hold LB + RB, D-pad up saves, down goes, left / right picks the slot.

Pair it with a downhill map like Gravy Train — nine step-down jumps by the same author — and the jump read-out to measure each attempt. More maps: best mods roundup; pipeline: Thunderstore install guide.

Every Trainer Console Command

Everything clickable is also a console command (~; type help to confirm on your build). Canonical list per the Trainer README, 2026-10-07:

Command Effect
trainer open [tune|practice|map|realistic|fun|everything] Open the page or jump to a tab
trainer status Show Trainer state
trainer set <id> <value> Set one value by id
trainer find <words> Search values by name
trainer preset apply|remove <name> Apply or remove a preset
trainer dial <multiplier> <preset name> Set a dial multiplier
trainer reset <id>|all|tricks|presets|everything Reset a value or group
trainer marker save|go|clear [slot] Manage markers
trainer tp <x> <y> <z> Teleport
trainer where Print position
trainer jumps Show jump data
trainer dump List value ids (used by trainer.json)
trainer selftest Self check; read trainer selftest: lines in logs\ReSkate.log

Headless use: RESKATE_STARTUP_COMMANDS="load <level asset>;wait 25;trainer selftest" with ReSkateLauncher.exe --no-gui --no-update. Map makers can ship a trainer.json ("schema": 1, preset plus named spots) beside manifest.json; stock ReSkate ignores it.

Trainer Rules in Multiplayer

The Trainer follows ReSkate's session rules instead of bypassing them:

  • With host "enforce tuning" on (default), a guest cannot edit anything. Guests skate the host's full setup, synced to late joiners; on dedicated servers everything is stock tuning.
  • With enforcement off, physics are per-player, and trick multipliers plus auto push follow the host's boosts permission.
  • Teleports/markers follow the host's noclip permission; game speed (SimulationTime.TimeScale) is locked in sessions.
  • Servers with score_check / enforce_tuning see tuning edits like any other tuning mod. Lobby and throwdown context: multiplayer guide.

On bans generally: as of 2026-10-07 EA has made no public statement about ReSkate, while tens of thousands play daily (about 28.7K Discord members in the community snapshot) — an established fact, not a safety promise. Full discussion: safety and ban-risk guide.

Known Limits

From the official README's limits section: the jump read-out uses real time, so it reads low whenever game speed is not 1x — measure at 1x. Masses and collision sizes (deck, trucks, wheels) apply on the next respawn. Curve/graph multipliers scale outputs only; a mod-changed curve keeps the mod's points. Push strength has no effect in this build and is hidden. Controller marker shortcuts were lightly tested — keyboard and console are the reliable path.

ReSkate moves fast — fourteen tags from v1.0.0 to v1.1.3 in five days — so treat every version claim as stamped: built in since v1.0.9, verified at v1.1.3 on 2026-10-07. Latest changes: version history tracker.

FAQ

Do I download the Trainer separately?

No. Since v1.0.9 it ships inside every ReSkate release. The old fork (hand-replacing ReSkate.dll + ReSkateLauncher.exe) is history.

What key opens the Trainer?

Insert opens the ReSkate menu; TRAINER is a page inside it. Remappable in launcher Settings.

Is the Trainer a Thunderstore mod?

No — and it never was installable that way. Regular mods still use the Thunderstore install flow.

Will the Trainer get me banned?

It unlocks nothing and ships no game data; servers treat tuning edits like any tuning mod. EA had made no public statement as of 2026-10-07 — see the safety guide for the sourced community line.

Why does a slider do nothing?

About 4 in 10 tuning rows are never read by this game build and stay hidden by default. Use search and trainer find before assuming a value works.
