ReSkate Controls: Keys and Console Commands Cheat Sheet

ReSkate adds exactly three keys on top of skate.'s own controls: Insert opens the ReSkate menu, ~ (tilde) opens the command console where help lists every command, and T opens multiplayer chat. Both the menu key and the console key can be remapped in the launcher's Settings. Everything below is current as of v1.1.3 (2026-10-07) — key bindings may change in later versions, so treat the version stamp as part of the answer.

A real-life skate plaza at golden hour — thematic artwork, not a screenshot of ReSkate's text menu or console.

Official source: Dingo-Shenanigans/ReSkate — the Controls table and launcher Settings described below come from the project's README (main branch, pulled 2026-10-07).

The Three Keys

New to the project? Start with what ReSkate is and the PC install walkthrough — skate. itself is free on Steam (bring your own Steam account and legitimate install; ReSkate ships no game files), and these keys only exist once ReSkate is running. ReSkate is a third-party open-source mod platform, not an EA product, and this is an independent fan site with no affiliation to EA, Dingo-Shenanigans, or Thunderstore.

Key What it does Notes
Insert Opens the ReSkate menu Home of MODS, TRAINER, Park Editor, multiplayer, and settings. Remappable in launcher Settings.
~ (tilde) Opens the command console Type help to list every available command. Remappable in launcher Settings.
T Opens multiplayer chat Text chat with emotes for lobbies and dedicated servers.

If you searched for "reskate insert key": Insert is the whole ReSkate menu key, not a Trainer-only key. There is no separate Trainer hotkey — press Insert, then pick TRAINER from the menu. Full Trainer walkthrough: ReSkate Trainer guide.

Inside the Insert Menu

The menu controls everything ReSkate adds. Confirmed pages as of v1.1.3:

  • MODS — toggle installed mods on and off, most without a restart. Mods come from the launcher's MODS page (browse Thunderstore or drag a .zip into the window) or a manual Mods\ folder. Install only mods you trust: script mods can execute code. Full chain: mod install tutorial.
  • TRAINER — the built-in physics tuner (bundled since v1.0.9): TUNE presets, PRACTICE markers and slow motion, MAP & HUD readouts. Details: Trainer usage guide.
  • Park Editor — build custom parks with free camera, snapping, and undo; finished parks save as shareable mods. Details: Park Editor tutorial.
  • Multiplayer — join lobbies and servers, manage voice and distance settings, party up, and (as admin) kick players. Details: multiplayer guide.
  • Levels / Travel — switch maps, including custom map mods.
  • Settings — in-game settings, which persist since v1.0.4.
Keys changed or missing? Check the version stamp first

ReSkate shipped 14 tags in five days up to v1.1.3. If a key from an old video does nothing, your build is probably newer than the video — open the launcher Settings to see (and remap) the current menu and console keys rather than trusting dated clips.

The ~ Console: help First, Then Commands

The console is the power-user path: every menu action has a command equivalent, plus extras with no menu button. The complete command list lives behind help inside your own build — this site will not print a frozen list that rots with the next release. What we document below are the command families confirmed in the project READMEs as of v1.1.3.

Trainer commands

Every Trainer tab action has a trainer ... console form (source: Extension/Trainer/README.md):

Subcommand family What it covers
trainer set / trainer find Look up and change individual tuning values
trainer preset / trainer dial Apply presets and move preset dials
trainer reset Restore stock values
trainer marker / trainer tp / trainer where Practice markers, teleporting, position readout
trainer jumps / trainer dump Jump read-outs and telemetry dumps
trainer selftest Built-in self check

Exact argument syntax varies by version — type help in the console and read the usage line your build prints. On a controller, the confirmed shortcut is LB + RB + d-pad: up saves a marker, down goes to it, left/right switches slots.

Server admin commands from inside the game

Server admins do not need the server window open: prefix any server command with mp server in the console, or type chat commands with / in the T chat window — replies land in chat. The vocabulary below is verbatim from Server/README.txt (the only source for these spellings — when in doubt, the file wins; the community play-with-ReSkate guide confirms the same three-key layout from the player side):

In-game form Effect
mp server status Server name, map, player count, join code
mp server players Online players with SteamID64s
mp server map <name> Switch map (e.g. map San Vansterdam, map grom)
mp server maps / mp server map-pool List maps / manage the rotation pool
mp server kick <player> / mp server ban <player or id> Remove a player (kick lasts until restart; ban persists)
mp server tpall [player] / mp server tphere <player> Teleport everyone to you, or one player to you
mp server tod <morning|noon|night|...> Time of day (needs layer sync on)
mp server votes ... / mp server vote-cancel Voting setup / cancel the active vote

The full reference — every ReSkateServer.json field, all admin commands, votes, and the global ban list — lives on the server config and admin command reference page. Hosting your own server: dedicated server setup.

Beyond trainer and server commands, use help — not this page

The recon notes for this site explicitly mark the rest of the in-game console vocabulary as unconfirmed territory: no source publishes a frozen full list. If a video shows a command not listed here, verify it with help first — never paste unknown commands from comment sections.

T Chat and Slash Commands

T opens text chat with emote support on lobbies and dedicated servers (proximity voice is a separate setting — see the multiplayer guide). Slash commands confirmed in Server/README.txt:

Command Effect
/vote map <map> Call a map vote (map must be in the pool)
/vote kick <player> Call a kick vote (admins cannot be vote-kicked)
/vote tod <time> Call a time-of-day vote
/yes / /no Vote on the active motion
/w <player> <text> Private message between players
/party invite <player> Invite someone to your party
/p <text> Party-only chat

Admins additionally get msg-party and msg-admins channels from the server side (see server config).

Remapping Keys in Launcher Settings

Both the menu key (Insert) and the console key (~) can be rebound in the launcher's Settings. Two more confirmed launcher settings worth knowing:

  • Crash reporting (Settings → Advanced, or the RESKATE_CRASH_REPORTING=0 environment variable): ReSkate uploads a minidump plus the current log to the project's Backtrace account on crashes — never your Steam password or login name. Turn it off here if you prefer.
  • In-game settings persistence: settings changed in game stick since v1.0.4, and crash logs live at logs\ReSkate.log (attach it when asking for help).

When a Key Does Nothing

Three usual suspects, in order:

  1. ReSkate is not actually injected. The keys belong to ReSkate.dll, not to skate. itself — if you launched Skate.exe directly instead of pressing PLAY in ReSkateLauncher.exe, nothing happens. Re-run the install steps.
  2. Steam is closed or logged out. Multiplayer features (including T chat) need Steam open and logged in; otherwise you enter as "Unknown Player" in pure offline mode with no multiplayer. Offline scope: offline mode guide.
  3. A security tool ate the files. Around v1.0.8, Defender-style heuristics (Behavior:Win32/DefenseEvasion.A!ml) began flagging the DLL-injection pattern every mod loader triggers — download only from GitHub Releases, restore from quarantine, and exclude the ReSkate folder. Full flow: safety and trust guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the Insert key? Yes — the menu key and the console key are both remappable in the launcher's Settings (as of v1.1.3, 2026-10-07). If a future version moves them, this page's version stamp will say so.

Is there a full console command list? Only inside your build: open the console with ~ and type help. This page documents the trainer and server-admin families from the project READMEs; anything else should be read from help, not from third-party lists.

Do these keys work on Steam Deck or Linux? The keys are the same, but running there goes through Proton with known issues. See the Steam Deck and Linux guide.
