ReSkate PS5 Support: Does It Run on Consoles?

No. ReSkate is a PC-only mod platform as of v1.1.3 (2026-10-06): there is no PS5, Xbox, or Switch version, and no console version has been announced. What works beyond Windows is Steam Deck and desktop Linux through Proton, with known issues, plus native Linux for dedicated servers.

This page settles every platform question in one place: why consoles are out, how Deck and Linux work, and how the official skate. lineup differs from what ReSkate supports. Version-sensitive facts are stamped as of v1.1.3, 2026-10-07. This site is an independent, unofficial fan wiki with no connection to EA, Full Circle, Dingo-Shenanigans, or Thunderstore. The short version: ReSkate recognizes one thing — a Steam copy of skate. on PC hardware.

Why There Is No PS5 or Xbox Version

ReSkate is not a game port. It is three Windows programs — a launcher (ReSkateLauncher.exe), a runtime (ReSkate.dll) injected into the game, and a server program — built around one pinned Steam build of the PC game (build 25414733, unchanged from v1.0.0 through v1.1.1). Consoles do not allow that shape of software: unsigned code injection, loose mod folders, and community file downloads are outside what locked console platforms permit. Nothing in the official README, the Releases page, or the issue tracker points to a console effort.

The confusion is real: console players asking whether ReSkate works on PS5 or Xbox show up across search results — Reddit threads, TikTok clips, YouTube comments — while no dedicated page answered them. That vacuum is what this page fills.

Anything offering a console build is not ReSkate

The project ships only Windows files through GitHub Releases. Any video, link, or download page offering a PS5 or Xbox version is not from the Dingo-Shenanigans team — do not install it. See the PC install walkthrough for the only safe source.

What Consoles Do Get: EA skate. Itself

Here is the part console players should hear clearly: you are not missing the game, only the mod layer. EA skate. is a full multiplatform release — a free-to-play online multiplayer skateboarding sandbox with cross-progression and cross-platform play. It entered Early Access on September 16, 2025 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with Android and iOS to follow later. EA also states plainly that skate. has no offline mode.

Official source: EA skate. FAQ — "We released skate. Into Early Access on September 16, 2025 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, with mobile platforms (Android and iOS) to follow later." The same page answers "Will skate. have offline mode?" with "The simple answer: No."

That online-only design is the gap ReSkate fills on PC: it runs your own Steam copy without talking to EA servers, which is why offline mode works there and not on consoles.

Platform EA skate. (official game) ReSkate (mod platform)
PC via Steam Yes Yes — the only supported setup
PC via other storefronts Yes (PC release) Not confirmed — the project only documents the Steam copy
PS4 / PS5 Yes No
Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S Yes No
Android / iOS Planned for later No

One more distinction that trips people up: progress does not cross between the two worlds. Console saves and purchases live inside EA's online game; ReSkate keeps its own separate local saves on PC and never touches EA servers.

Steam Deck and Linux: Yes, via Proton

This is the happy exception. EA's skate. does not run on Steam Deck or Linux because its Javelin anti-cheat is not supported there — but ReSkate runs an older build of the game offline, without the EA launcher or the anti-cheat, and that build runs under Proton like any other Windows game. That is the community Steam Deck FAQ position, which also cites PC Guide's report of players running it "perfectly fine on multiple maps" at 60 FPS on medium to low settings on Deck, online and offline.

Setup follows the standard PC install with a Deck-specific wrapper; the full steps live on the Steam Deck and Linux guide:

  • Switch the Deck to Desktop Mode and install skate. through Steam.
  • Download the latest ReSkate-<version>.zip from GitHub Releases and extract the launcher and DLL beside Skate.exe.
  • Add ReSkateLauncher.exe to Steam as a non-Steam game and force a recent Proton.
  • Launch it from Steam so the launcher sees a signed-in session — otherwise you start as "Unknown Player" with no multiplayer.

Two version facts matter. Since v1.0.4 the launcher detects a signed-in Steam session under Proton, and joining servers under Proton was fixed in v1.0.9 (issue #28) — both per the community play guide.

Deck players share the same servers as PC players

Once connected, a Deck client is just another PC client: same version, same map mod, same browser. Keep versions identical on both ends.

What is still broken is also documented. Since v1.0.8, custom maps and modded servers hang on the loading screen under Proton (issue #31) — free skating in San Vansterdam works, and players report custom maps loading fine on v1.0.7. Hosting a lobby from Deck may still report "Multiplayer is off" (issue #19). A third-party script, ReSkate Linux Setup, builds a dedicated Wine prefix with VKD3D-Proton and DXVK instead, but it is unofficial — read its code before running it. These caveats come from the Steam Deck FAQ.

Dedicated Servers Run on Windows and Native Linux

Hosting is the one place Linux is a first-class citizen rather than a Proton workaround. Since v1.0.8 the dedicated server ships as a native x86_64 Linux build alongside the Windows one — no Wine, no game install, no Steam needed on the host. See the server setup tutorial and the Linux server deployment page.

The Trust Footnotes for This Page

Two things this page does not do, on purpose. It does not promise EA will never react: as of 2026-10-07 EA has made no public statement, ReSkate simply does not connect to EA servers, and ban risk is covered honestly on the safety and trust guide. And it does not help with piracy: skate. is free-to-play, but bring your own Steam account and legitimate install (about 14 GB). ReSkate never ships game files.

FAQ

Does ReSkate work on PS5 or Xbox?

No. As of v1.1.3 neither has a version and none has been announced. Play the official skate. release on your console instead.

Can I use ReSkate on Steam Deck?

Yes, via Proton with the Desktop Mode setup above — and Deck clients join the same servers as Windows players. Expect 60 FPS-class performance on modest settings per community reports, plus the known issues (custom maps hanging since v1.0.8, lobby hosting that may report multiplayer as off). Details are on the Deck and Linux guide.

Do I need to buy skate. again for ReSkate?

skate. is free-to-play, so there is nothing to rebuy — but you need your own Steam account with the game in its library, plus roughly 14 GB. See the install walkthrough.

Will ReSkate ever come to consoles?

Nothing official points that way as of 2026-10-07, and the project's shape (Windows executables, DLL injection, loose mod folders) does not fit locked console platforms. This page carries an as-of stamp and will be updated if that ever changes.

Where do mods fit into the platform picture?

Mods install the same way on every supported PC setup through the launcher's MODS page backed by Thunderstore. Start with the mod install tutorial.
